Has anyone had impetigo ??

just been to the doc's and he said i've got this.... been looking on the web and it says it could cause damage to your other organ if not treated for some time. I noticed it about 4-6 weeks back and didnt think nothing of it until it got worse! My doctor didnt mention anything about death but he did say that its similar to MRSA . Taking anti b's now. anyone else had this?? how would i no if it has affected my organs!!

help im scared.... and my doc's has closed now!

also, i've been touching my little boy with my bare hands... theres no sign that hes got it yet - how long will it take to show if he has got it?

Dear, children bring home stuff like this all the time from other children at grade school. I can remember chasing my Suzy all over the house, to wipe the scab with rubbing achohol and then applying the antibotic ointment. Almost as bad as when she got poison ivy and I had to apply calamine lotion, she never could stand to have stuff like that put on her.
The damage to organs happens in third world countries where people are very poor and cannot afford to purchase the treatment meds to get rid of the impetigo. 6 weeks is not long enough to penetrate your organs. Those poor people sometimes get covered in sores that last years.
Finish the antibotics, all of them, no saving some in the bottle for something else, and you will be fine.
You can also go to Web MD and do some research there to ease your mind.

My son had this when he was little. There was no concern he was just given some cream to get rid of it. I've never heard such rubbish. Here's a link to 'Patient UK' - they don't mention anything about serious problems. So stop worrying.

I caught this once i was working with cattle and scratched my fore head and bingo a itchy rash appeared doc said it was impetigo a fungal infection of the skin i had cream to rub in and it just went it is catching by touch to the spot affected just wash hands regularly it did me no harm apart from the itchy patch that soon went.
MRSA is nothing like it utter rubbish someone is telling you.

I can reassure you that generally recovery from impetigo is complete, with no complications or scarring. It is caused by staphylococcus, as is MRSA. The only special thing about MRSA is its antibiotic resistance.

Just keep an eye on your son for the next week or so and take him to the GP if he shows signs of infection.
