My child has impetigo. Just finished 10 days of antibiotics, hasn't cleared. Another doctor trip? Seen this? Hi-- not a doctor here, but I have heard about impetigo clearing up when pure, unadulterated lavender essential oil was applied neat to the lesions... magical. Antibiotics are being challenged more and more as these viruses mutate. Call your doctor before going. The impetigo your child has may resistant to the antibiotic he/she just finished. It is possible your doctor may just prescribe a stronger antibiotic over the phone, saving you a trip to the doctor's office. Also, if your doctor has not already, ask for a topical steroid to help prevent the inflammation and itching. Desoximetasone LP .05% is a favorite of pediatricians. If you are still worried, go to a dermatologist instead (normally it takes a while to get in to some, but if you explain your child's condition, they should work you in right away) Antibiotic ointment that is applied directly to the infected areas of skin usually cures impetigo. Sometimes antibiotic pills are needed. try to go to dermisil.com/impetigo..if that doesn't do it , yes another trip to the dermatologist |
