Question about immunization on a 6 month old? |
my 6 month old had immunizations on thursday. on friday I saw a red spot on her leg that was not the injection sight. I waited a day and it didnt go away. It is tender to the touch, its a bit swollen and it seems to have gotten bigger. can you tell me if i should take her to the ER? What kind of immunization did he/she have? If she got a tetanus or a DTaP it could be a normal reaction. This immunization generally cause pain and inflammation. As a rule inflammation is typically the worse on the 3rd day. If your baby is not experiencing an abnormally high fever, is acting like herself (not lethargic) and is not having any respiratory problems, I think that she should be alright. However, you are her mother and know her the best; so if you don't feel comfortable with her appearance or behavior then definitely take her to an urgent care clinic or an ER. I am a mom to 3 and have been through shots many times; I am also a RN student, so I have some medical knowledge. Hope this helps! get it checked immediatly the vaccine could have triggered an immune response which is harmful (eg. auto immune kills bits of tissue) or it could just be a localised infection similar to teenage spots. i would not know from info given but if you think it warrents ER then do it you never know it might just save your kids life |
