Is there an immunization for Malaria and is it effective? no there is no immunisation against malaria but the prophylaxis against it. There are several medications in the market for this...common ones include Mefloquin, chloroquin, proguanil and doxycycline. However the parasites has developed resistance against some of them. Sometimes a combination is needed for better protection. Ask ur pharmacist or dr to recommend the right drugs for ur destination. It is also important to note that they have to be taken 1 week before the journey and 4 weeks after u come back as the parasite can remain dormain in ur liver for quite sometime. Yes Quinine no there is no immunization, but there are many prophylactic drugs like quinine No immunization. Prophylactic oral medications are effective such as atabrine. Yes there is but it does not last a life time. I know some people who are missionaries that get this shot to keep from getting this when they go to different countries.. no but there is quinne but that treats malaria There is no vaccine for Malaria, you can prevent getting by taking preventive medicines like Chloroquin till the period you are in an area where there are chances of getting it i.e. prevalent area like afroasian countries. If you are to be there for a long period then better not to take the drug ,just avoid mosquito bites, use mosquito net. |
