Explain how active immunization against rabies is given?

Why is it given that way?

because of the ant-body

The last time I was given a vaccination for rabies was about 13 years ago, and it was in the form of a injected syringe into the muscle tissue of my upper left arm. It was a combination vaccination to prevent rabies and tetanous after being bit by a rodent on a finger. It was not painful and it lasts 10 years in the human body.
