How important is immunization in children?

The purpose of vaccination or immunization is to intentionally expose the human immune system to a foreign infectious agent so that it forms a memory of that agent. In future infections by that organism, the attack against the agent will take only minutes to hours, and the agent will be destroyed before it has a chance to inflict its damage.

Very important!!! There are so many life threatening germs, viruses and bacteria out there. Why even take the chance anymore..

Here's my thoughts-
Immunization is very important in children. Children and the elderly both are known to have the most trouble when it comes to fighting off diseases and or average colds. Because children are not as developed it makes them harder to fight off bacteria, and elderly people similarly in that their bacteria fighting mechanisms are run down and less effective. If you have children that have low immunity, give them some form of Vitamin C daily to help give them a boost.

:)

i can promise you its extremely important for children to be immunized. there are so many horriable germs out there...in my opinion its very important!

I believe the first immunization to be given to children was Small Pox vaccine. this was a live virus type. Up until then children and anyone who had not survived the disease died! Whole communities died! Small Pox in the USA is now non existant, we have not vaccinated children for it since 1973. Service men going overseas must be vaccinated tho.

I was in the test group for the first Polio vaccine. My husband contracted Polio that year! 1953 was a horrid year! That disease killed, crippled and maimed one out of about every hundred people.

I wish each of you who don't believe in the need for preventive immunizations could meet and visit with my husband and his friend Sam!!! You would get a very different perspective on preventable diseases!

It is very very important to immunize all children on strict schedule. We do not want a lot of these diseases back among us nor do we want to nurse our children through any of them.
