I had a complete ileostomy. what i can't understand is why do i still have a unhealed place?

the place has been there for 9 months and won't heal. it drains, bleeds, and swells.why won't it heal?

with all the answers i got it dosen't help. the dr. gave me one year for it to heal, but still know healing has occured

Go to www.meetanostomate.com and ask someone on there. Good luck.

When you have an ileostomy you should have an ileostomy bag which will be a port that will not heal. If you have another open wound, or the port is not looking ok. Then you have to go see a doctor or you pose the risk of infection and other problems.

drainage, swelling and bleeding are all signs of possible infection in your unhealed wound. go see a doctor before it gets serious.

Darl'n you need to have that checked out by your doctor, I'm sure it isn't supposed to be like that. My boy friend had a colostomy in August and had all kinds of trouble with it and thank God had it reversed last week, but an ileostomy has to do with the urinary tract right? If I'm right, the site of the surgery would be exposed to urine and susceptible to infection. Please have it checked out because I know it is very painful for you. I'll keep you in my prayers....God be with you
