What is Gabapentin used for? |
I have an ileostomy and a get abdominal pains sometimes when i eat , strain myself or even walking or standing to long... i wa son vicodin for almost 2 months and now they referred me to pain management and they gave me Gabapentin. Gabapentin was originally used for treatment of epilepsy, but is more widely used for pain relief and was approved to be used for pain caused by various neuropathies (such as shingles) in 2002. Off label (non FDA approved) uses include bipolar disorder, but this is controversial. pain Gabapentin affects chemicals and nerves in the body that are involved in the cause of seizures and some types of pain. The exact way that it works is unknown. Gabapentin is a seizure drug. Medications have many uses for them. |
