I am having trouble with my ileostomy bag bursting in the middle of the night. What do I do? |
What should I do? You output has increased. You need to contact your practitioner to give you a larger bag and a better sealant. The output can irritate the skin around it. maybe you can get the kind of ileostomy bag w/the valve at the bottom, where you can connect a tube and connect it to a foley bag at nite???? does your ileostomy bag have one of those little burper screen things at the top???? i know that colostomy bags do......but the foley bag idea could potentially work, they are capable of holding over 2000cc Two things spring to mind. If you wear a two piece bag, you could change to a bigger bag for when you sleep or, failing that, a lot of ostomates set their alarm clocks to wake them at say 3am, so they can get up and empty, to ensure their bag doesn't get overfull while they sleep. |
