Surgical advise needed? |
Short history I was admitted to hospital with a tender RIF mass, a laparotomy was carried out and found an infiltrative mass around the caecum and it was presumed a diagnois of cancer and carried out out R hemicolectomy turned out not be . After 10 days it was identifed that a chronic obstruction at the anastomotic staple line and proximal disintegration of the bowel due to prolonged obstruction was found. An ileostomy and several mucos fistuale were created, some of my small bowel anatomy was impossible to dissect free and was by-passed, a large abonimal wound was left open which has now closed over slightly trapping disfunctional small bowel. I have all sort of mineral deficencies which require regular infusions and consume roughly 9k calorise a day to maintain weight and energy. I'm a walking miracle however have more major surgery planned and am being sent to Gastrenterology unit Hope hospital in England. What are the chances of success normaly in these cases? I worked in Hope hospital in Salford as a radiographer, and I have been treated there for neuro surgery, so I can tell you as a patient and a health professional, it's a good hospital. However you wont find an accurate answer on here unless specific consultants are trawling yahoo answers. My opinion, and I have imaged many patients with your specific condition that the chances, (which vary by the way with a number of different variables) are reasonable in normal cases. But I stress, this is my opinion, you MUST speak with the necessary consultant at Hope hospital, but chin up, I'm a walking miracle myself there are loads of us, we should start a club Your doctor is the best person to answer this question. I don't think anyone here is qualified to answer this type of specific question. However there do appear to be online groups where you might find some support and people in similar situations: |
