Hysterectomy...?

is this an invasive surgery? what is the estimated recovery time?

I had a complete hysterectomy at age 32 (now 45) due to many female problems. However, I worked with my doctor for over 2 years before we came to this decision.

My BF had to have an incision and she wishes they could have performed hers vaginally.

Mine was vaginally and the recovery time was six weeks.

I have been on estrogen ever since and so far so good. It is also good to take natural progesterone even though every doctor will tell you it is not necessary. It IS - TRUST ME ON THAT

Major surgery whether vaginally or not. BTW, don't have it done vaginally, too many problems. Recovery can be at least 6 weeks to several months.

Why are you thinking about this type of surgery? Too many have been done for the wrong reasons, do your home work and ask lots of questions, get a second or third opinion too.

the recovery time is un predicted usually aged person spend longer time in recovery. 6 weeks you can see you wound is healed but the inside of the wound is still in the proces of healing.

It is an invasive surgery. If all goes well, total recovery time is about 4-6 weeks, of which I mean you can resume all activities. It helps if you are in tip top condition before the operation.

I had the total hysterectomy done. Took every advice from my specialist all the way and it's a 'text book' recovery. I was 47, 160cm tall and weighed only 45 kgs (under weight), but general health was good.
