Partial hysterectomy information sought from women who had yhis procedure done -- Serious answers only.?

Hi. I just turned 40 and have been experiencing very heavy periods for many years now. Also, during my periods I end up with the most terrible migraine ever imaginable. Would it be possible to get clear of these migraines if I were to have a partial hysterectomy done? Pls advise.

Or, would having another child help aleviate migraines?

I was in the same boat till last dec when I had a total Hyst for the same reasons. The heavy bleeding will stop if you have the uterus removed b ut it is the hormone fluctuations that cause the migraine headaches. If you just have the uterus removed it won't stop the headaches. My doctor said that the migraine and heavy bleeding were due to fibroids and associated problems with being near the end of my child bearing years. The surgery wasn't easy, but I don't regret having it done as both problems are gone and it has decreased my chances of ovarian and breast cancer as well.

I have been a migraine sufferer since the age of 10 years. I had to have a partial hysterectomy when I was 27 years of age, and this was done because of heavy menses and a prolapsed utereus. Years later, I still suffered migraines every month sometimes 2 to 3 times a month. At least one of the migraines would send me to bed. I finally stopped having them when I begain to take a magnesium, zinc, and calcium supplement. I feel much better. I get an occasional headache, but at least it is controlled 95% of the time with two Excedrin.
