Emergency question about hysterectomy? |
I'm fifteen and I'm home alone with my mom who just had a hysterectomy. It's almost been two weeks but she just started vomiting and having diarrhea and her forehead is warm but she's not running a fever. Does this have to do with the hysterectomy at all? Should I take her to the hospital? Her doctor doesn't work on Sunday so that would be my only option. Thanks so much for all of your help. I called the hospital because my dad took all of the keys, so I had no way to get her there, and they said to keep trying her doctor. Finally got the doctor after a couple different numbers and he sent some medicine in that will hopefully work, if not, she'll have to go back to the hospital. Again, thank you for all of your help, kept me from panicking. She most likely has an infection, if you can look at the wound, see if it is red or swollen at all....if it is she needs to get to the hospital...it means that her incision is infected and needs to be drained....sooner the better. stay calm, she will be okay, she just needs to go to the er...the same thing happened to me several years ago, i had to spend a couple days more in the hospital. Please don't worry too much, she should be okay but I woudll say get her to the hospital. If she seems reluctant to go, that would be a normal response, just be assertive and even tell her the dr. said she had to if you must. good luck.... If it's been that long, then yes, you should go to the hospital. She may have an infection on the inside. It'd be best to get it checked out. Go ahead and go to the hospital. It may not be related, in which case better safe than sorry, but there's a chance she may have an infection, and if so, that needs to be treated right away. yes she needs to get to ER.Hope all is well Take her to the emergency room, this is not normal! She may have the flu, or it may be a surgical complication - it's better to be safe than sorry!!!! Constipation and vomiting would have bothered me more. Diarrea with vomiting needs attention but may not be connected with operation. Let her drink lot of water/ oral rehydration salt. If vomiting stops, she will feel better. If vomiting continues she will need intravenous fluids. |
