Endometriosis and hysterectomy???

I had severe endometriosis for years and got a hysterectomy (they took everything) when I was 25 (ten years ago). However, for the past few years I have been having moderate to severe cramps, getting worse all the time. I even told my friend I felt like I was going to start my period. I just read that hysterectomies don't necessarily cure endometriosis, especially if your doc leaves some in you when you have your hysterectomy, which mine did. It makes sense to me that it would take this long for my cramps to become severe again, as the disease would need time to grow. Has anyone had this same experience, or similar? I am really stressed about it. Especially since I heard that it is not only possible but common. My hysterectomy was totally worth it to me because my pain and hormone imbalance was so severe. But now that I am in pain again, I just don't know. I am a little scared because I don't want to go through this again. Even though I already have been for a few years. Wow, does this even make sense???

That is where my doc left it, is on my bowels and intestines. He said he couldn't get to it all without damaging my intestines...this sucks.

Now for a sensible answer that doesn't contain erroneous information recommending futile treatments or try to sell you supplements:

There is no definitive cure for Endometriosis, hysterectomy included. Because Endo makes its own estrogen synthesizing enzyme, called aromatase, it is able to sustain its own life cycle even after hysterectomy. If there is any disease left behind, it will continue to cause symptoms, period. You need to have it removed via excision by an expert, such as Dr. David Redwine at www.endometriosistreatment.org or Dr. Albee at the Center for Endo Care in Atlanta at www.centerforendo.com. Those specialists use excision - not ablation, vaporization or other superficial removal - and routinely excise all disease from all locations, including bowels, bladder, ureterus and other advanced areas. Hang in there and don't mess around with local docs who say that it "couldn't be removed" - what they mean is, THEY couldn't remove it. Check out www.endocenter.org and the other sites above to get help and support from those who can relate. Help is out there. Good luck.

I can't seem to copy and past, but from my google searches I would say yes. It seems that it can grow on your bowels.

Have you been to the doc recently to discuss this? My sister has had alot of problems of this sort, She actually had 1 of her ovaries growing back and had it removed again then went through more pain with cysts. I have really bad cramps and i`m considering a hysterectomy but still giving it alot of thought. Hope you get feeling better soon. Go to the doc.

I would think that severe cramping is very unusual and I believe this is a question best put to your Doctor, though you suffered with this for several years possibly needlessly you should talk with your physician sooner than later. Good Luck.

Ask your doctor about having a D & C. I have the same thing and am 25 years old I had the procedure done about a month ago and I have been feeling really good, I havent had the hysterectomy yet. This is the less abrasive surgery and it seems to be working. Talk to your doctor about it and see what they have to say.

ALOHA!!!

I am extremely sorry to hear of your situation and all of the pain and difficulty you have gone through. While I have no medical background, I can offer something that may help.

About six years ago, I was in a severe bicycle accident, which left me virtually bedridden for four years, with extensive damage to both of my feet and entire left side, as well as my adrenals, kidneys, and liver. I had extensive nerve damage, which caused excruciating constant pain, and this led to my system getting weaker and weaker, causing chronic fatigue and chemical sensitivity, as my body was not able to properly get rid of the toxins from my system. I was being given IVs every week just to keep my body going, and the only thing the medical doctors were offering were scary pain pills like Vioxx (which is now off the market) and Celebrex (which they told me not to take too often because they would cause more liver and kidney damage). The doctors also told me that the cartilidge in my ankles would never come back, that the mounds of arthritis visibly growing on my feet would keep getting worse, and that I would never be able to walk right again and that I would probably be in a wheelchair by now. I exhausted my options in the medical field, going to every type of orthopaedic, neurology, and internal organ specialist recommended, and they all just told me that there was nothing that could be done and I would have to get used to the pain.

Well, about 1-1/2 years ago, the pains shooting through my body got really bad and I was so scared and prayed to God that I just make it through the night. I couldn't sleep and so I went onto the internet and found the following natural supplement. It arrived to me in Hawaii just five days later and my life has been incredibly blessed ever since. The chronic fatigue was gone immediately, I had extensive nerve damage healing very quickly and almost all of the pain in my feet was gone within a month, my liver, kidneys, and adrenals are working well now, all of the cartilidge has come back in my feet, the arthritis is all gone, and I am dancing joyfully now, I have lost over 50 pounds, and so many other things have improved!!! I cannot say enough about this incredible natural supplement!!!

Well, one of the very unexpected "side effects" was that only three days after I started taking the supplement, I got my period in the morning, and it wasn't until 10:00 that night that I realized that for the first time in my life I had no cramps!!! Plus, on the first day of my period I am normally very withdrawn, kind of like a baby bear wanting to hibernate, and instead I was out all day, positive and enthusiastic and feeling great!!! I had had severe cramps for over 20 years due to endometriosis, some of which had been removed during exploratory surgery, but it had come back. Also, my period was now healthy and strong, which was amazing for it had almost stopped (except for the cramps), and I had had intermittent bleeding for the past 2 years due to all of the other injuries to my body and my body's weakness. It has been 1-1/2 years now since I started taking this supplement, I am 45 years young now, and my period and my female system is healthier than ever!!!

Now, I don't know how this supplement will help you since the endometriosis is in other areas, but it may help your body to cleanse it out through other means. It also has very strong anti-pain and anti-inflammatory properties. I have known a number of other women whom this has helped tremendously with endometriosis and other female problems. It has also been shown to have hormone and mood balancing properties and to help with many of the symptoms of menopause.

From the time that I received this supplement, I never went back to any of the doctors, and I stopped taking all other supplements (I had been taking $200-$300 of supplements a month, plus the weekly IVs). It was just the blessing of the magnificent God-given natural plant.

I do not know if this will help you, but it is certainly worth the try. I believe our bodies are incredibly intelligent and that they have the knowledge of how to heal themselves if given the right resources. The following link takes you to extensive medical and scientifc research concerning the natural plant and its healing properties, including a clinical summary by the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, for there have also been incredible results world-wide in the use of this plant against many forms of cancer, including breast, liver, lymphatic, and leukemia.

I hope that this helps for life is too precious to live in pain and fear. I say a prayer every morning that I be led to whoever may need this as I go through my day, and it's interesting how I found you through a simple Yahoo contest!!! Please contact me if you have any questions, and let me know how you are doing.

Many Blessings To You and I Hope You Have An Easy And Speedy Recovery!!!
