Hysterectomy at 25??

I want to know if it is a good idea for me to get a hysterectomy at 25?? I also want to know what the recovery time is for this and if I should get a second opinion or not?? I got a D&C on June 5th and have had continuous heavy bleeding ever since. Two weeks after the first D&C they gave me another one and a scoping. I was in the hospital for 4 days cause I had lots of blood loss. All they said that they can do now is give a hysterectomy. I am still bleeding pretty heavy and lots of abdominal pain and I am always dizzy and almost about to faint. I dont know if the doctor did something wrong or not. I called the doctor today to see him cause the bleeding got worse and they wont see me no more. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't answer about whether you need a hyterectomy at age 25, but I would certainly get a second opinion about it.

Was it explained to you why you needed the first D & C - what was the cause of the bleeding? Knowing that would be a big help for you and a second physician to determine whether a hyterectomy was the way to go or not.

I think that in general there is a lot less need for hysterectomies nowadays than there was in the past - there are more options to treat many of the problems that women used to get hysterectomies for. Unless you already have all the children you want, you certainly want to avoid having one if you can.

If you are having dizziness and feel about to faint, you certainly need to be seen by a physician promptly. If you don't have another option, I would try to go to the emergency room of a hospital that is associated with a medical school if there is one where you live or that you can reach. (If you live in the US, try to go to one in your same state, if possible). Medical schools will usually have some of the best treatment available; you'll also get a second opinion about what to do that way. Feeling like you are going to faint may mean either than your blood pressure is too low or that you are very anemic (low blood count) or both.

It sounds like the first thing that needs to be done is for the physician that treats you to determine why you are continuing to bleed. Depending on the cause, there may be other treatments besides surgery for it.

Good luck. And go get medical help - ER or urgent care - pronto!

You have developed severe anemia. I am sorry to say this to you but it seems hysterectomy ASAP is the only option.
It may take 10 days to two weeks for recovery.
Good luck!

You need to go to another doctor/hospital very fast. You could potentially die form this. They may or may not have done something wrong but thats something you should worry about after you get better. I'm pretty sure that a hysterectomy is the only thing that can be done, just ask them to save your eggs if at all possible.

The fact that the doctor refuses to treat you anymore is good indication that they made a mistake. It has happened to me before with a broken leg. Your NEW doctor should be able to tell you if something had obviously been done incorrectly. Make sure that you mention that you suspect that before they operate so they know to look for it. I'm sorry honey. Get to the hospital fast.
