Hysterectomy and hormone replacement pills?

My mom had an hysterectomy 6 years ago, she refuses to take hormone replacements because she believes they are bad for you and can cause cancer(i have no idea if there is truth to this or not) she doesn't take medacine at all unless she is forced to by the doctors. She is very moody and hard to get along with sometimes and I even would go as far to say she is a bit mental at times saying off the wall things, she never acted this way before the hysterectomy, my dad swears it's due to not taking the replacement pills, is there any truth to this, what is the side effects of NOT taking hormone replacement pills? Please help
Also my mom works for a pharmacy and I have no idea why she is so against medication

If your mom is willing to take a totally natural supplement, my friend is having great results from taking Menopause Balance Complex.

This complex uses compounds found in plants called phytoestrogens to ease mood swings, sleeplessness and hot flashes associated with menopause. Also provides soy isoflavones and flaxseed lignans.

Has no artificial colors, flavors or synthetic preservatives.

Hope this is helpful and feel free to contact me with questions.

A hysterectomy can really change a woman's body chemistry in a SEVERE way. It changes the way her body produces hormones, which can cause changes in mood, and even changes in body structure - lack of estrogen can make women gain weight, grow body hair (yuck) and effect their metabolism.

PLEASE tell her she needs to see her doctor. Hormone replacement therapy is now common practice for women going through menopause and after menopause and part of it is to ensure the body has the right balance of hormones and this can help REDUCE THE RISK OF CANCER.

Again, the hysterectomy and her body's change in hormone balance IS effecting her mood and her thought processes, she needs to see a doctor and needs to talk about hormone therapy. There are MANY available therapies that are herbal based and not a pharmaceutical pill, and they are quite safe.

Your mom is absolutely right about HRT causing some forms of cancer, including breast cancer. My mom is a 10 year survivor of breast cancer, and she got it when she started taking hormone replacement. The moodiness and irritability are caused by menopause, and the sudden drop in hormones, and those are the side effects of NOT taking HRT. There are some natural estrogen type supplements out there, but I am quite frankly scared of those as well.

Here's a couple of interesting links for you to study.

I can relate to your problem. My mom had the same problem. Only difference was that her doctor gave her way too much estrogen and no progesterone to balance it out.
Tell your mom to check out some on-line sites about NATURAL Progesterone. There are no known side effects, (at least since I last heard). But it is necessary to balance out the estrogen. Our bodies continue to make estrogen even after a histerectomy but when we lose our ovaries, our bodies had no way to make progesterone any more.
There is a book out there called "what your doctor may not tell you about menapause", by Dr. John Lee. It explains it all.
There are also some medical doctors out there that specialize in womens Natural HRT, which includes the use of NATURAL progesterone. I emphasize natural, (wild yam cream). Synthetics do not work as well.
Maybe your mom will be comfortable seeking that kind of advise.
