A hysterectomy?

I've been wanting a hysterectomy for some time now, does anyone know about getting one.

I already have 2 kids. And my periods are pretty painful, I've decided I'd like to have Hysterectomy.

Instead of just tieing my tubes, I don't really even have sex anymore so...

Well I have endo, and listed treatments was a hysto. so I decided maybe I want one of these.

I had a hysterectomy due to having an endometrial ablation. The ablation was to slow down/try to stop my periods by burning the uterine lining off. Well the vessels in my uterus didnt clamp shut after they were burned off and I started bleeding really bad (uterus was so full of blood it looked like a 10 week pregnancy) in the hysterectomy he took my uterus and my cervix. Getting ur tubes tied doesnt stop your periods it just makes it so u cant get pregnant anymore. If your periods are that painful talk to ur doctor about birth control to regulate and lighten them along with a pain pill for cramps if motrin and stuff like that doesnt work. My endometrial ablation was done due to endometriosis so maybe ask your doctor if that is a possiblity on what u may have. Usually they wont do one if there isnt a need for it. If you want more info feel free to contact me.

I know that there are alot of things that you can do decrease your pain during your period like drinking a goldseal and aloes mixture a week before and eating lots of raw veges and fruits.
Not to mention a doctor will not perform a hystorectomy on you just because you have bad period pains there must be some other medical reason.
I think that you should talk to your doctor and find out what else you can use to ease your pain.

I wouldn't have a hysterectomy talk to your Dr. about endemetrial ablation. you keep everything except your periods. some women completely stop others may spot for a day or two.
Had one 2 months ago and only spotted once for one day.
Good luck and check with Dr

They won't give you one just because you want one. you have to have something medicaly wrong with you for them to do that.

There are lots of alternatives to a hysterectomy! Maybe the pain of your periods is from fibroid tumors or endometriosis and there are several things that docs can do to help you alleviate the pain. I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago and I almost died Literally after the surgery...I developed pneumonia and then three days after the surgery they had to go back in and do an emergency exploratory surgery because I was bleeding internally, that coupled with the pneumonia, was a very big blow to recover from. The exact same thing just happened to a friend of mine. So my suggestion is to explore other avenues first and then if there is no alternative, do what you must. But please get more than one opinion before you go ahead with the surgery.

First of all no Doctor will perform a hysterectomy for the sake of doing it or because you want it done. There has to be a medical reason for it. If you have painful periods talk to your ob for solutions. You have to try other remidies before jumping into hysterectomy. I simpathize with you. I have been there and done that. It took me over a year to get it done. I had three different doctors examine me. We know our bodies and what is best but that doesnt go over well with insurance companies. Explain your symptoms to your doctor and see what he/she says.
Best of luck!

I had a hysterectomy about 4 years ago. I too had stage 4 endometriosis and was in pain all the time. My Doctor tried several different treatments for the endo, none of them worked. I pretty much lived on pain meds for a bout a year before I finally had a hysterectomy. It was a pretty tough couple of months following the surgery. I was only 25 and it was tough emotionally and physically. Now 4 years later I know that I made the right choice by having the surgery. I would have your Dr. try some different treatments but if none of them work for you I would definitely have the surgery.
