Hypothyroidism????????????????...

i have hypothyroidism and im kinda young (14, female) should i be worried? is hypothyroid something i should be worrying about? im on levoxyl and have been for two years but it hasnt taken care of the symptoms and when i was first diagnosed with it, i didnt think it was a big deal becuz at that time, i didnt know anyone who knew wut it was, but now everyone is talking about thyroid problems...??

It's not a big issue since it can easily be treated with the medication. However if you are still having symptoms then maybe you should be on a higher dose of medication. Since you are so young and your body is changing this condition should be closely monitored to that you will always be on the right dose of medicine, not to much and not to little. You should have your mom or dad take you to the doctor and explain your symptoms to the doctor. Symptoms of hypothryoidism can also be signs of other stuff like anemia which is common at your age due to beginning of periods and the typical teenage poor nutrition.

Disregard what middleman said FOR HEAVENS SAKE!!

Your medication ONLY needs to be ADJUSTED WHEN your levels go up or down. Now that we have that out of the way!

Hypothyroidism effects people every day. We wrestle with being tired, weight gain and difficulty losing the weight, we have to watch what we eat and exercises more. And we are supposed to all this while feeling slower than a slug. Not to mention it plays hell with our periods.

The medication might have made you feel better at first and while they say the medication increases your levels it doesn't replace what your own body naturally used to produce.

It really isn't a big deal to be honest with you and you will get used to being tired and learn that you need a little more sleep than the average person, just so you can function normally. Do a little research, get your mom and dad active in it, so they understand more about your condition. Your going to be fine and you not the only one that has hypothyroidism.
