Hypothyroidism, PCOS, Overweight & unable to exercise due to pain... Anyone with simular issues or answers??? |
5'11 & 400+ pounds. Unable to exercise due to chronic pain steming from injurys sustained in three accidents in the past 10 years. Irregualr weight gain due to Hypothyroidism & Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) along with irregular (20+ pounds) roller coaster water weight gain during menistration. On the low-carb forum I'm a member of, many of the people claim that a low-carb diet has helped their PCOS Leave the weights alone and increase your walking. You should be doing 2 miles. Not talking about a stroll here! Put some a** into it! Lay off the carbs...ALL carbs after 5pm. You aren't going to burn them. Eat lean protein and about 2 cups of green, steamed veggies or a big leafy salad--veggies only--for dinner. (I love Just2Good dressings by WishBone!) Are you on medication for your hypothyroidism? That should be helping. If not, then you really need to speak to your doctor. Are you drinking plenty of water. 2 liters of water a day helps break down the fat and absorb nutrients. Try adding green tea, at least one 8 oz glass every day. Its so good for you. And don't drink diet soda, they make you crave high calorie food and drink. I have heard really good things about Nutri-system, if you can afford it, or maybe e-diets.com. Weight loss is so hard, especially for women. Just try to do it healthy and it will pay off. Best of luck to you. i definitely feel your pain. i am 5'3" and i weigh 180 i have not been formally diagnosed but i have never had a weight problem until now. i am an army vet and i used to run 5 miles a day, but one day i woke up and i was heavy. i dont eat a lot of junk and i have just recently started exercising again. i have terrible pain after exercising almost to the point of not being able to walk but i dont want to be heavy anymore so i bear through the pain and workout. i think that you are off to a good start but the only thing i would change is that you should cook your own food rather than the frozen foods. i eat those meals as a last resort. i also would recommend swimming because it will alway for healing of your joints and not cause anymore injury and you will get a better workout. i use to swim but i will be going back to it for the same reasons i gave you. i also have what they call gerd so i have eliminated the sodas, and limited the sugars and sweets and increased intake of chicken, and green leafy veggies. i would also eliminate eating after 6pm. i use to scoff at the idea but i now realize the benefits of doing this.
