What could an instant change in body temp mean? |
My son was sent home from school with pale skin and lips, and a body temp of 94.1. He was real tired and did not want to eat. Then an hour later his temp raised to about 96.8 degrees and he was eating and wanting to play. It is the strangest thing. He is a normal, active 7 year old. He ate a good breakfast before going to school, and seemed perfectly fine. All the doctor said was to keep an eye on him. Everything i have found online about low body temp is about hypothermia. Its 90 degrees outside so I highly doubt its hypothermia. You should tell the faculty to keep an eye on the science teacher. my guess was, he probably had a bout of low blood glucose level (hypoglycaemic) when he turned pale / tired etc etc. and then, right after food, he seems energized again. try look into wikipedia /etc. on Juvenile Diabetes. |
