Anyone have similar experiences or have been trained to deal with those who suffered them?

Compare: effects of my experiences and PTSD? In my childhood I dealt with:
A physically & verbally abusive father (I was sure that I would die on some occasions, and more than once my father took a shotgun after 1 of my brothers).
During 30 years from age 13 to 48:
Extreme sleep deprivation due to health problems.
While I had this sleep problem I still had to cope with the abuse for a while and
later worked 30 yrs; suffered from hypothermia and dehydration frequently; fainted from heat stroke (95 F, 100% humidity); carried up to 90 lbs up a ladder all day long; lack of clear thinking due to hydration that led to a fall and a broken arm; refusing to lie for the purpose of collecting a disability pension, preferring to die working rather than lie (accepted); income below the poverty level, though I was 1 of the best and most productive roofers in the Niagara Peninsula. These factors - violence by a parent (who I trusted), my age at the time - compare to factors that lead to PTSD.

it is unfortunate to have gone through so much, you definitely need to be seen by a psychitrist, not a psychologist not a counsellor etc, good luck
