What are the health effects of enduring cold temperatures?

A note to forestall misdirected answers by careless readers: I am NOT talking about the cold virus.

I go out a lot in cold and miserable weather, and I never wear a sweatshirt or jacket. Last night at around midnight I went biking halfway across town in the rain with no shirt on, just for the hell of it.

My question: What are the health effects of enduring cold like this? My body produces a lot of heat, and I never do this kind of stuff in really crazy temperatures. So don't tell me to worry about hypothermia or frostbite.

Do you know of any health effects of forcing your body to deal with cold temperatures, frequently?

The cold itself won't do you any harm. You are probably healthy, and if you enjoy it- go for it.
