Whats the difference between positional vertigo and orthostatic hypotension? read on..?

all i know is that i feel dizzy when u get up too fast, or when its hot, or when i am in crowds...
which one do i have positional vertigo or orthostatic hypotension?
i read about Epley Maneuver and it said it helps with positional vertigo, what do u do?

OK...postural veritgo is a severe, long-lasting vertigo brought on by movement of the head to certain positions. Some of the many causes of this are otitis media (a fancy name for an ear infection), ear surgery, and injury to the inner ear. Symptoms might include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and imbalance/difficulty with coordination. Unfortunately, there is no treatment of the actual vertigo escept avoiding the positions of the head that cause the vertigo.
Now...postural hypotension is simply a significant drop in blood pressure when one's position goes from lying to sitting to standing. The most common syptoms here are dizziness and fainting.
The syptoms for both are similar. The key is that with vertigo, you only have to move your head to notice the change. With hypotension, you really need a BP reading to know for sure, but position change from lying to standing is key, not just the movement of the head.
Please see your Dr. if this continues to be a problem. It could prove to be dangerous to yourself or those around you if you continue to be dizzy or faint, esp. if you drive or operate machinery of any kind. Your Dr. will be able to tell right off what the problem is and treat you accordingly.
Good luck with it.....
