Is there a safe way to raise your blood pressure? I'm pregnant and they tell me I have hypotention.? |
I'm 27 weeks pregnant and I have these blackouts and periods of time where I can't stand or feel my legs. My doctors say it's hypotension caused by the extra weight of the baby. They said just to eat more salt and that worked before but this seems to be getting worse. I am wondering if there is any safe way to raise my blood pressure without hurting the baby cause I know salt all the time is not a good idea. Does juice lower blood pressure or raise it? I mean could too much milk or juice be causeing this. I'm looking for an answer other than salt. Or is that it... to make this go away I have to hurt my baby? I haven't had any kids yet, but I still have spells of low blood pressure. Eating salt does help, mild excercise can help a little (it averages it out, not necessarily raises it). Also, you might consider beef jerkey. It's salty and has a lot of iron and protien, unless you're a vegetarian of course. Uhm, I had hypotension too, and they way that I got mine higher was to eat Lays potato chips. Juice I think raises sugar levels more than salt. And no, I don't think too much milk or juice would cause that. I had the same problem... they had me drink high sugar juices and do low impact excerise. Did't work .they gave me a rx didin't work either finally they told me to not sit for to long..When I had my baby it went away! Drink at least 2,5 or 3 litres of fluid per day. Juice or milk do not lower BP. Tea or coffee may raise your BP without any harm to your baby. Avoid long standing, especially in warm and stuffy rooms. Sit or lay down whenever you feel weak. These symptoms may be not due to your hypotention. Make sure to have your blood pressure measured when you have such periods. Also make sure that you have checked your blood glucose level. If your problem is hypotention really it is not an important problem even maybe some (JUST some) salty food and drinks may help you. |
