Hypoglycemia Confusion? |
My friend just told me online that she has Hypoglycemia only hers is unrelated to Diabetes. I want to know how to pronounce Hypoglycemia, and is it serious, im worried about her. She faints alot and suffers confusion. I didnt really understand her much when she was talking to me, what is this condition and is there a cure? Thanks. There is no cure, the treatment is to keep the blood glucose levels up by eating startchy foods regularly. It is pronounced exactly as it sounds Hy-po-gly-seem-ee-uh. It isn't too serious a condition when under control. It is the lack of sugar in the blood stream. Your blood sugar needs to be stable in your body, and an imbalance in blood sugar causes her fainting. She can control this usually with diet alone (if she needs insulin to control it, then it is considered diabetes), but she may need to carry candy or juice in case of emergencies. As long as she eats the proper diet, she will be just fine. HY - as in the word HI One's healthy blood sugar should be around 120-135 or so. Hers gets under 70 and she's got to get sugar in her. A regular coke is good, orange juice, ice cream is real fast. She should always carry glucose tablets with her. make sure she keeps some in her purse. If you see her shaking and breaking out in a sweat, get her some sugar fast. Candy takes too long to digest sometimes. |
