Do I have hypoglycemia?

Hey guys, I have been getting kinda sick lately, but it's not normal sick. It seems like every time I drink a coke or eat something sweet, my body later "crashes". It's usually several hours afterwards, but it can vary. I usually began having increased heartbeat, a little heavy breathing, and then my mind begins changing. Sometimes I'll just begin to think things that I have no control over, like math problems or random thoughts. This usually begins a sweating and I worry that I may die. It should be said, however, that I do have OCD and hypoglycemia and diabetes do run in my family. Is all this part of hypoglycemia or perhaps part of a panic attack. Anyways, I'd really like to get to the bottom of this and maybe figure out what I need to do to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

God bless!

hypoglycemia can only be tested by running blood work. I see no bloodwork results, so the answer is inconclusive.

Talk to your doctor.

You can check your symptoms here:

You could have hypoglycemia, and you could also be what's called "sugar sensitive" which has to do with your serotonin levels when don't eat properly. Both are fairly easy to correct with diet but you'll need to be very careful with what you eat, and usually you'll need to totally change your diet and avoid sugars and simple carbs.

I am pretty sure that I am hypoglycemic though tests have not proven it. . . I have proven it well enough to myself that I don't need a blood test to validate me.
If I do as you said and eat sugar on an empty stomach I too will get lightheaded, clamy, irritable, shaky and feel as though I am going to pass out. . . .
My first option is to avoid taking in sugar unless I have had a decent meal. . .no morning donuts, cakes etc with everyone else at work. I prefer eggs,buscuit/gravy,cold pizza, hot link etc
My second option is. . when I have made a mistake with sugar and start to crash I get some protein in me. . . eat meat or cheese etc.
My last option is to eat a pack of sugar or a teaspoon of sugar/honey and in a few moments the symptoms go away only to return when that supply of sugar is leaving. . . crashing.
My sister in law has been diagnosed with hypoglycemia and she does the same exact thing I do as per her Dr's instructions and that is to avoid sugars on an empty stomach, small meals with decent food/protein.
I have also noticed that if I eat a fair amount of carbs/starches I can get the same symptoms as a "crash" because certain carbs/starches will turn to sugar once absorbed in the body so I watch that as well.
Since you have OCD,some of your symptoms can also be a panic attack but if in doubt, try drinking a coke and having a donut ONLY in the morning and see if a few hours later you don't have one of these attacks (crashes) but make sure you have something to counteract it. . . protein.

Good Luck
