Hypoglycemia? Tumor? Lack of oxygen? I've had 3 seizures in 2 years...I thought hypoglycemis, am I wrong? |
Two years ago, after an excessive drinking binge, not eating, and excessive cigarette smoking(I still do), I had a seizure one evening. I had a glucose tolerance test. The results showed I was hypoglycemic, but was told as long as I eat properly and don't drink in excess I shouldn't have to monitor my sugar, and due to the drinking binge, the seizure was the result. Lately I haven't been paying very much attention to my diet, and been drinking more, but I always make sure I eat before I drink...Last month, one morning I had my second seizure, this time in my sleep. I had not drank the day prior. I've noticed when I wake up i blow dried up blood out of my nose and my sinuses are extremely congested-no I don't use drugs...I had another seizure this morning, I drank last night, but ate a lil bit yesterday, and before I went to bed. I just wanted to double check that this is hypoglycemia, anyone think it could be lack of oxygen? Or possible a brain tumor? I'm so scared If you didn't have it initially, you should have the general testing panel for seizure disorders, including imaging studies to assuage your fears about a possible tumor, and an EEG. Most seizures are idiopathic: that is, there's no identifiable cause. Add to that the fact that glucose tolerance tests are notorious for false-positive diagnoses of hypoglycemia, and you really don't have much of a diagnosis to take to the bank at this point. Note that no matter the cause, alcohol is going to lower your seizure threshold, so you might want to reconsider how much it's worth to you. iam not a doctor but i will advise to you this-->keeping drinking or smoking wont help you......and might make it worse and please like i said im not a doctor wich means you shoud speak with one you might need treatment Seizures can be brought on by anything from infection to tumor, to brain damage. I think the best advice would be to tell you to go to your physician and get a neurological exam. If you are so scared, stop drinking & smoking. Seizures cause a lack of oxygen while they are occuring b/c when seizing, you aren't breathing. I think its b/c you are not taking care of yourself. I think you know the answer. I don't have health insurance...I'm going to my doctor ASAP, I'm just trying to get an idea what people think so I know what tests will be run so I know how much cash I will need |
