Reactive Hypoglycemia? am I at risk for...?

I have just been told I have reactive hypoglycemia but was told not to worry about it. Does this put me at risk for diabetes? could this be why I have a hard time dropping the pounds, and in simple terms what is it...should I be concerned?
thanks

I had reactive hypoglycemia for many years and now I have diabetes. My doctor warned me that this could happen as the first condition meant that my body was not managing insulin properly. If your body is not managing insulin properly , it will have an effect on your weight and ability to lose weight...it effects your appetite and how your body metabolizes sugars. I wouldn't obsess about it , however i wouldn't hurt to inform yourself on better nutrition, etc. A good site for this info is www.webmd.com . Also, it would be wise to have your sugar levels tested at least once a year to be safe. Good luck.

Reactive hypoglycemia is of many kinds. Your doctor will know better. It can be pre diabetic condition. If it is so you should take care and eat small meals at intervals. You can type the term in search engine and know more about it.

Well, in many ways, hypoglycemia is the opposite of diabetes, it's a syndrome describing periods of low blood sugar whereas diabetes mellitus is associated with high blood sugar (anyone who has low blood sugar in diabetes has something else going on as well, usually related to improper dosing of their meds). So no, I would not be too worried about you getting diabetes, at least no more worried that I would be about someone without the reactive hypoglycemia.
