Have hypoglycemia and can't keep it stable...? Please?

I have hypoglycemia and have been needing to eat every 1 to 1 1/2 so my sugar doesnt go to low...
When i start hitting 70's I have hypo symptoms.
Then when i hit 60's it gets even worse.
I have been following the diet that my endo gave me.. it helped for about a month and a half.. then it stopped working.
I am soo scared.

I stay away from sugar.. i eat low carbs.. and high protein.
And i ams still having issues. Please help.

Thanx in advance :)

Answering someone's question..
I am not on insulin.
It just makes me soo scared.. i am like a prisoner of my house cuz im afraid of going out with this (i also have panick which doesnt help either.)

If you keep hitting bottoms, you are on too much of something, or not taking in enough carbs. NO carb diet isn't good, you need to monitor your diet and your sugar levels.... If I eat 10 carbs per meal, and my body burns 30 carbs every 3 hours, I have a real issue.
I would get to a doctor quickly and get right. Too much meds, not enough diet carbs and fibers.... Over medication....? I know the gilipiside was giving me the lows every three hours, we knocked off that med, and whala', I am running normal sugar levels now. Hope this helps.

I also have it have since i was27 now 63:::peanut butter can help stablise you as can orange juice. i would check with the doctor again as they found with me i could not cut out all sugar as it made me sick. every one is different so just keep working with it and your diet you'll know when you hit the mark for you!!

Are you on insulin? Too much insulin will cause this no matter what you eat. You sound like you are doing everything else right otherwise. 6 or 7 small meals a day are good for diabetics. Low carbs can also be a problem. You need the carbs if you are on insulin.

Same here but I don't completely avoid sugars and carbs. I do eat a lot of meat but nuts are also good. When you feel the shakes coming on, eat a peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat. You can't let yourself go comatose so if it drops really low, reach for something thats going to be metabolised quickly, like real fruit juice. Remember that fructose is better than sucrose and sugars can be ok as long as it isn't processed sugars all the time. Whole wheat is better than white bread. Stay away from deep fried foods, simple starches, refined carbohydrates...

Also, take a vitamin everyday. Make sure it contains Chromium, Vitamin B, and Magnesium- which all help stabilize metabolism.

edit: Don't be scared about this. I have it too and travel around just fine. Keep a jar of nuts or Slimfast canned shakes (good protein and wont spoil) in the car when you travel, and have a baggy of nuts in your purse. Just nibble them from time to time if you feel the least bit light headed.

YOU NEED TO EAT 5OR6 SMALL MEALS A DAY. KEEP O.J. AROUND . IF IT STARTS TO DROP . GET YOU 4OZ OF O.J 2 TABELSP. OF SUGAR IN IT. AND IF YOU CAN'T SEE IMPROVEMENT EAT PEANUTBUTTER AND SALTTINES. AND SEE YOUR DR. AS SOON AS YOU CAN AND YOU SHOULD BE SCARED. I HOPE YOU KNOW WHAT CAN HAPPEN. SORRY TO BE SO BLUNT. I WILL LEAVE YOU MY E-MAIL PLT7@YAHOO.COM AND I WILL COME AND CHECK ON YOU IN HERE. SORRY TO BE SO BLUNT. YOU DID'T SAY HOW OLD YOU WERE.

It sounds like you better talk to your endocrinologist about this. Maybe something else is going on.

Perhaps your new diet is too low in carbs? Avoidance of high GI carbs is great for hypoglycemia, but are you getting enough slow acting carbs to keep you going?

On the other hand, is it possible that you're still getting more carbs than you thought - perhaps you're still eating 'hidden' carbs that are having the roller coaster effect on your blood sugars?

Hypoglycemia can be very scary - as a diabetic I'm quite familiar with how you feel! I suggest you talk to your endo, or even a dietician / doctor ... anyone who you feel really knows about hypoglycemia.

Usually too much diabetic medication causes low blood/sugar. Eat some whole grain carbohydrates, they will stay with you for awhile.
