Foods for Hypoglycemia?

Are there any foods to cure or avoid hypoglycemia? I just found out today that my blood sugar is very low. and my doctor said to eat better but I am not sure what kinds of foods I should eat? Where is "E.R.'s" Dr. Kovach when you need him?

Sugary foods, and foods that are simple sugars such as cereal and fruits need to be avoided unless you ad something to it that has protein.
Protein containing foods such as peanut butter, chicken, bacon, etc... need to be added in to your diet because they take longer to digest.

Foods high in protein are the best (meat, nuts, etc). Also avoid things that are pure sugar like pop and candy.

Foods with protien. Avoid sugar and sugar sweetened things. Eat fruits and veggies and whole grain items. Avoid white processed foods. Remember that fatty foods break down into sugars. Also, make sure you eat three meals a day with protien in each meal plus a morning and afternoon snack that is low in calories.

I used to have a teacher with hypoglycemia. Oddly enough, the diet for that is very like that for diabetes: Low refined sugar. She said that when she got a craving for sugar, she would eat protien instead: Usually a steak, and that would take care of it.

I can't say anything about an actual cure.
