I have hyperthyroidism. I was wondering if anyone has had or knows a lot about the radioactive iodine treat-?

ment and how it worked out for them if you have it or if not if you think it's a good or bad idea to get? I heard one woman say that it helped her a lot because her bulging eyes became normal again, my eyes aren't that bad but I do always have somewhat red eyes because of hyperthyroidism(grave's disease)

Radioactive Iodine is contraindicated if you have Thyroid Eye Disease. It makes your eyes worse! Don't do it.

I actually think Radioactive Iodine is a bad idea for anyone with Graves' disease. I don't understand why anyone would have it. It doesn't cure Graves' disease. It only suppresses one symptom of Graves' disease (hyperthyroid). And radioactive iodine will give you a new disease - hypOthyroidism. you will have to take replacement thyroid hormone for the rest of your life if you have radioactive iodine. If you don't have radioactive iodine, your Graves' disease can go into spontaneous remission at any time, and you can stop taking medication at that point.

I suggest you do all the reasearch you can before starting any type of treatment. Go to your search bar and type in "radioactive iodine treatment for hyperthyroidism" and reasearch the listed sites. Another one to try is "alternative treatments for hyperthyroidism". Always check out the alternative, more natural approaches too. Good Luck!
