Can hyperthyroidism cause lower-back pain? |
I went to the doctor because I have chronic lower-back pain and when I wake up in the mornings, my whole body is stiff. I was sent to a rheumatologist because my general doctor said my bloodwork suggested I had Sjogren's Syndrome. The rheumatologist said she didn't think I have S.S., but she did discover that I have hyperthyroidism. I have to figure out what is causing this chronic lower-back pain, unless it could somehow be connected to the hyperthyroidism. Could there be any connection? I was told that some number was supposed to be between .34 and .55, but mine was .01.... I have no idea what that means, though. Hyperthyroidism doesn't cause lower back pain directly. However as any general health problem can unsettle the body it may be linked indirectly, so you should try to sort out the hyperthyroid problem. It means you will be put on tablets for life. No it does not cause back pain. |
