Are hyperthyroidism and hives linked?

I have been getting hives off and on for about 6 months. It lasts a day or so and will go away...then come back. I had hyperthyroidism a few years ago, but I quit taking my meds and assumed it was gone. Does it go away completely? And if not, are hives symptomatic of hyperthyroidism? Also, are there any free self diagnosis sites?

Hives are more connected with hypothyroidism. I had them badly when my doctor sent me spiraling into hypothyroidism.

my son has hyPOthyroidism and is prone to sensitive skin. Whether it be a result from his medication or an affliction resulting from the disease is not to be known.... good luck with this one. I use aveeno creams on him.....
