The treatment for Hyperthyroidism is medication that helps suppress the thyroids activity, surgical removal of part of the gland and a single dose of radioactive iodine which is taken up by the thyroid and destroys some of the tissue. Hyperthyroidism left untreated could cause weakening of the muscles, both skeletal and heart muscle. People who have severe cases sometimes lose weight. |
