Hypertension question.?

I'm 22 diagnosed with Hypertension, after I got diagnosed with mitral regurgitation. My bp used to be 180/110 now after taking med's for 10 days , it's 150/95. I have been told that beta blockers usually need much more time to work to get my blood pressure down. I started exercising daily, and I do feel better, but still sometimes feel breathless, bit chest pain and the worst for me feeling of burning in my face. Seems like I've had high blood pressure for last 3 years, and it finally affected me. What to do to take care better of me, and how to lower my pressure down.

Definition of Hypertension
140/90 ELEVATED
Hypertension: High blood pressure, defined as a repeatedly elevated blood pressure exceeding 140 over 90 mmHg -- a systolic pressure above 140 with a diastolic pressure above 90.
SILENT CONDITION YOU MAY BE AWARE YOU HAVE IT
Chronic hypertension is a "silent" condition. Stealthy as a cat, it can cause blood vessel changes in the back of the eye (retina), abnormal thickening of the heart muscle, kidney failure, and brain damage.
MEASURE YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE TO TRY TO CONTROL IT AND TAKE ACTION EXERCISE /FOOD ETC
For diagnosis, there is no substitute for measurement of blood pressure. Not having your blood pressure checked (or checking it yourself) is an invitation to hypertension.

NO SPECIFIC CAUSE FOR HYPERSION IN 95% of the time
No specific cause for hypertension is found in 95% of cases.
TREATMEANT SEE DOCTOR FOR MEDS IF NEEDED
Hypertension is treated with regular aerobic exercise, weight reduction (if overweight), salt restriction, and medications.

Yes

It looks like you are on the right track keep taking your meds, excising, diets, watch your salt intake.

Keep taking the medication. Eat a low sodium and low fat diet. Exercise but don't overdo it and strain yourself. If you are concerned call your doctor.

If you haven't stopped already, don't add salt to your food. Stay away from frozen and canned or dehydrated food items. The sodium content in prepared food is astronomical. Reduce the amount of caffeine in your diet. Get daily moderate exercise, even if it is just walking, for 30 minutes a day. Losing 10 to 15 lbs can make a huge difference in your numbers. Good luck!

Eat foods rich in potassium -- Banana's, strawberries, orange juice. Potassium has a natural lowering effect on B/P.

You are on the right track by exercising. Eat less sodium, start reading the back of packages for the sodium content. You will be surprise of the content of sodium in so many things, even in sodas. Stay away from canned soups and microwaved stuff, especially diet microwaved meals. The sodium content in these things are just outrageous! Drink plenty of water (8 glasses minimum). Eat out less and try to eat very little to no fast foods. Also, ask your doctor if beta blockers have side affects such as yours: burning of face, chest pain and breathlessness. With the exception of the burning sensation of the face, the chest pains and breathlessness could be sign of being out of shape. Watching what you eat and exercising could be rough, but you are so very young and pretty soon the changes will become easy. Good luck with your health.

Stay away from salt, exercise, try to keep your stress level down, lose weight if you are over weight. Make sure you take your pills every single day and try to take them at the same time every day. Do not drink alcohol or smoke.
