Possible hyperparathyroidism and losing ability to scream...related?

I never did think that the two could be related but:

I have had a lot (18) of kidney stones and my urologist seems to be leaning toward hyperparathyroidism. On another note, I have completely lost my ability to scream. I can't squeal, scream, or make any high pitched "girly" sounds at all. I used to be able to. If I try, it only sounds odd like air coming out and barely a squeak, if at all and honestly kind of hurts (feels like that lump in throat feeling and kind of like I just threw up) It feels like something is preventing the sound form being made. It seems like the feeling is around where the Adam's apple (or Eve's!) is. Could hyperparathyroidism be related to this? It appears to be getting worse. I haven't brought it up to my general practioner or urologist because, quite frankly, I don't never thought much about it. And if I do, I'm afraid I won't be taken seriously. I'm not quite sure what to do or think about this or how to approach my Dr. about it. Any ideas?

You should tell your urologist that you're feeling swelling around your adam's apple area. You should never hold anything back...that could actually prevent you from getting better. Always remember...the first step to a full recovery is catching a disease before it happens, or during it's beginning stages. There is no way your doctor wouldn't take you seriously. If it does turn out that the swelling feeling is because of your hyperparathryoidism...then your parathyroid is probably causing some pressure on your vocal cords preventing you from screaming or squealing like a girl lol. :)
