Hyperparathyroidism?? |
Since August 2006 ive had LPR , early march had norovirus stomach hasnt been the same since (tad more gas than usual, odd sensation in stomach, etc.) then in april i had reflux so bad it was in the back of my throat constantly. Doctor gave me protonix and Reglan. Protonix barely helped but reflux subsided it comes back now nightly almost and my stomach feels so much worse. Reglan makes me SUPER tired and depressed for a few hors but works. Had thyroid scan waiting to see results this week. I have at least 7 symptoms of Hyperparathyroidism including the reflux, tiredness, feeling bad but cant explain it, etc. Could this be hyperthyroidism my levels have been about right on 3 tyhroid tests and they arent high or low if you have hyperparathyroidism. Any experiences would be great thanks. i've had hyperthyroidism but have been normal (thru medication) since undergoing radioactive iodine treatment. the symptoms i experienced was rapid weight loss, nervousness, shaking hands, inability to sleep, and bulging eyes. i'm now clinically hypothyroid (radioactive iodine treatment reverses your situation) and have maintained normalcy by taking eltroxin tablets daily. the symptoms i experienced while hypothyroid sounds more like what you're going thru - weight gain, bloated feeling, cramps, always sleepy and lethargic! it could be your pancreas which regulates enzymes and blood sugar. ask your doc to test your pancreas. also ask for an ultrasound so they can take pics of all your organs. demand that your doc to more then perscribe drugs...they need to find out whats wrong. also...my thiroid is off...but the doc says no...but other docs dont agree with the "normal range" that yours might. look into natural doctors I have been on medicine for about 6 months for thyroid and I feel much better. I hope that you soon will too. I rebelled against taking another medicine, but it is worth it. i've had hyperthyroidism but have been normal (thru medication) since undergoing radioactive iodine treatment. the symptoms i experienced was rapid weight loss, nervousness, shaking hands, inability to sleep, and bulging eyes. i'm now clinically hypothyroid (radioactive iodine treatment reverses your situation) and have maintained normalcy by taking eltroxin tablets daily. the symptoms i experienced while hypothyroid sounds more like what you're going thru - weight gain, bloated feeling, cramps, always sleepy and lethargic! i've not had hyperthyroidism before, but if your thyroid hormone levels are normal then i don't think u have it. the symptoms u talked about can also be seen in other illnesses so also the regular symptoms of hyperthyroidism except for some very specific ones. i dont know if ur doctor suggested it, but i think the reflux will be better if u sleep with two pillows i.e kinda propped up, it'll reduce the nightly refluxes. u should also take more rest and drink more water. about the gas i think natural remedies would help, maybe herbal tea, i can't suggest any now. There are actually small glands attached to the thyroid called parathyroid glands. They don't affect the thyroid and if they are functioning abnormally it won't show up on tests for your thyroid gland. Ask your doctor to check your calcium levels in your blood. The parathyroid glands regulate the amounts. hypochondria more like. lay off the wrong foods and the reflux will probably go away. ask yiour doctor what they are if you dont know. I do know but Im not here to preach to anyone. lpr is nasty but manageable. Follow his orders. . |
