Hospice health care?

they say that their not just for the terminally ill anymore. is this true.can they tell us if the person they are takeing care of is dying if that person was one of our parents? if they are not for just the terminally ill why do they take over when you already have home health care? don't be afraid to answer these questions.it's just something i have been wondering about.

My wife's grandma just had hospice come in 2 weeks ago. Before they would take over for the home health care, she had to be declared terminal. The way I understood is that you had to be terminal. Unless it varies from state to state.Just sit down with them and ask them to be honest with you about whether your parent is dying or not. But if the person asked them to keep it a secret from you, they may not be allowed to disclose certain information to you. Just ask everyone until someone gives you the truth. Good luck. I'm sorry about the ill person in your life and I will pray for them.

no health professional is going to speak with you about a relatives condition if the relative is lucid and wishes them not to. / Now hospice is primarily for the care of people who are through trying aggressive treatments and are preparing to finish their lives. HOWEVER, in some cases hospice or palliative care is warranted while a patient is under going an aggressive therapy (such as radiation) because of the pain relief regiments that they can offer through a hospice physician. So they can provide a little more or different care than your run of the mill home care professional And there does not neccesarily have to be a terminal diagnosis.
My thought is that if it were me I'd be working on my communication skills with my parent , if that failed I would respect their wish to remain private.

Hospice care is primarily for the family of loved ones that are terminally ill. They will come into the home and give loved ones that care for the ill a break, allowing them to get rest, go out to eat, or just relax for a while. They also will provide companion care for the ill, take them to appointments, to the grocery store, etc., if others are not available.
