Growth Hormones and Scoliosis. Issues? |
My little brother is taking growth hormones by needle everyday and he also has scoliosis (plus a rare condition called chiari malformation, but that is a little extranneous). My mom knows that people doing so have seen increased scoliosis as they grew. Growth hormone is naturally produced by the pituitary so if your brother is taking it then I assume it is for GH deficiency. If that is the case, then his GH levels are normalized by this just like anyone else so it shouldn't have any affect on his scoliosis. If his levels are out of range and he is still young and growing, then this could be a problem. But if he is taking GH legally under a Drs care, they should be monitoring his levels. talking growth hormone could increase curvature in spine...but...chiari syndrome is a bit different.. |
