Hormones and body odor?

I am a 19 year old female that is having a lot of trouble with body odor. They usually happen after I get a hot flash. I shower daily, have tried all types of deodorants/antiperspirant, but I am still having a lot of trouble with odor coming from my underarm. I have changed my diet and have been drinking a lot more water, but nothing has helped. I am thinking of having a blood test done to check for a hormone imbalance. I was just wondering if that is a good idea. Also, what type of hormones should the blood test check for? Thanks!

Ebby is right about the fact that your hormones are not causing the odor....i have a prob with sweating really bad under my arms but their is no bad odor just stains on clothes....i have tried every deordorant there is and none have completely worked......i have heard that you can get botox under your arms to reduce the sweating....that would be your only option if deodorant doesnt work...if you are willing to go that route...i know how you feel! good luck!

Every woman has a natural odor. The problem is when that odor becomes strong to the point where people around you notice it. Your best bet would be to get the tests done because a hormone imbalance is the most likely cause of your little problem. There are medicines and treatments to help control these imbalances. I wouldn't stress over the situation because it is natural. Just be mindful of it: Continue to take frequent showers and make sure you carry personal items to freshen up everywhere you go. Good Luck!

Your diet, blood and harmones has nothing to do with your body odor. Bacteria causes these body odors. When you sweat bacteria builds up on sweat. Sweat does not stink. Bacteria causes it to smell that way. So don't worry about your diet, harmones, and blood. That has nothing to do with it. If you still want advice on deodorants I strongly reccomend Secret Deodorant and Lady Speed Stick.

The fact that this is New makes it important to discuss with a Doctor. I am familliar with hot flashes, and odor is not generally associated with this. You may have someting else going on.

Treat this as a symptom.

Just go to your doctor. He/she will know what to check for. Why are you getting hot flashes at 19?

Low zinc and magnesium, diabetes, some medicines, abnormal hormone levels, and thyroid problems are a few of the things that may cause problems.

Since hot flashes are usually hormonal, I would definitely see a doctor as soon as possible to correct whatever is causing the odor. I would assume it is a symptom of another problem.

Good luck! That can't be much fun.

At least you are aware of the odor. Secondly, the hormones have a little to do with your condition, meaning the hot flashes. Which trigger the sweating,THEN comes the bacteria, and now there's the odor. Make sure you continue to drink that water, and watch the spices you eat too. Curry will set it off..... and when applying your deodorant don't over do it. After your hormones get in check, things should get a lot better for you. good luck. Oh...and try carrying some personal hygiene wipes in your purse, and freshen up through the day. They really help.
