Homeopathy?

does homeopathy really work?

It's a perfectly valid medical therapy and very different to what people have become accustomed to with "modern medical science".

The philosophy behind it is the minimum dose of the remedies to provide relief or cure so that the patient gets a positive effect and is not harmed in any way by the remedy.

What would my modern doctors now say about the premarin I took following an early hysterectomy? They only said it would be good for me, my heart, bones, blood pressure etc. It definitely caused my breast cancer and caused me to lose my breast seven years ago. Now of course they say that "Whoops! HRT can cause breast cancer - sorry about that".

I started studying homeopathy as a result of two of my cats developing cancer (the same remedies are used for both people and animals). It has been extraordinarily successful with both of them. Where's the placebo effect in that? Every owner transfers positive thoughts and energy to their pets when they are afflicted with cancer - even if they use chemotherapy or radiation. Why doesn't the placebo effect work with those "modern" approaches to cancer?

When my arthritis got so bad that it was interfering with my life I used a homeopathic remedy and was totally relieved of my symptoms and discomfort. No longer needed to take the wonderful medicine, Vioxx, developed by modern medical science.

So someone who says it doesn't "work" just knows nothing about it. There are over 2000 remedies used today by homeopaths that have been used for over 200 years. Qualified practitioners have as lengthy an education and internship periods as any graduate of a regular medical school.

Charles Darwin was treated all his life by a Dr. Sully in England who was the homeopathic doctor used by Queen Victoria.

"Homeopathy-Beyond Flat Earth Medicine" by Timothy R. Dooley, ND,MD is an excellent short book about it that scoffing laymen should at least read before they declare that it doesn't work. "The Impossible Cure" by Amy Lansky, PhD is a longer book and certainly interesting as she used homeopathy successful to deal with her son's autism.

for a lot of things yes

I say yes, people have been using alternative medicine for thousands of years. Even the medical treatment and medicines we use now aren't 100%, and traditional medicine is man-made. Which means it is harder for our body to breakdown.

Homeopathy does not do anything other than placebo. Don't waste your money on nothing, send it to charity if you must spend it somewhere.

Yes it does. I've used it for ten years for a condition that my regular doctor couldn't help without doing surgery. It often works faster than modern pain meds. I decided to train to be a homeopath after the good effects I've seen.

As to the placebo effect, I started using homeopathy for my aquarium fish. I can't find any literature as to that ever being used before but when I was faced with a stressed fish showing hemorrages in its fins (and a slow wasting disease that would follow) I began using homeopathy. I kept this fish alive for two years. And I presume it didn't know that the pellets going into the filter were any different than me cleaning or changing the filter.

I also had another experience with a tiger barb who was suffocating at the surface from an unknown ailment. I was preparing to euthanize it and as a last resort I tried a homeopathic. When I came back with my kit to euthanize the fish, I couldn't tell which had been dying. They were all swimming around looking normal. The fish did eventually succumb and die, but the immediate effect of the homeopathic on the life force of the animal was pretty powerful.

I think most of the detractors have never had the opportunity to try. If you peel onions and it makes you cry, why not get some homeopathic Allium cepa and take it about 10 mins before you go to chop onions. See how you feel while you are doing it? Did it help or not? I think really that you need to try homeopathy for simple, easy things to get a feel for if it works. In absence of experience it is easy to be a naysayer.

for me it has, it depends alot on the homeopath as well, the wrong prognosis is easily done as there are a lot of symptoms which are very similiar & alot of medicines that can be prescribed for different things & symptoms are easily
confused.
It's a very complex study.

No. Never has. Never will.

I reckon it depended on what's ailing you.
