What is the difference between non Hodgkin's & Hodgkin's disease? There are two types of lymphoma, Hodgkin鈥檚 lymphoma and non-Hodgkin鈥檚 lymphoma. The cancer cells in Hodgkin鈥檚 lymphoma look different under a microscope than the cells of non-Hodgkin鈥檚 lymphoma. The cells associated with Hodgkin鈥檚 lymphoma (also called simply Hodgkin鈥檚 disease) are known as Reed-Sternberg cells. The disease is named after the physician who first identified it in 1832. www.homeworkhelp.com Both are cancers of the lymphatic system, but they are different cell types, and are therefore treated differently. By different cell types, I mean that they look differently under a microscope, and act differently in how they grow and metastacize.
