Please help!Suffer from cancer but can't find where the primary is!? |
My mum noticed she had swollen lymph nodes at the base of her neck and some under her armpit. No other symptoms however.Initially, our oncologist suspected Hodgkin's disease but after the tissue biopsy the results came out negative. There are no signs of a lymphoma. The tissue biopsy was however inconclusive but suggestive of breast cancer. My mum's had a mammogram and then a breast MRI but her breasts are all clear. We can't find the primary source of cancer (CUP=cancer of unknown primary).Has anyone had/heard of anything similar?? It sounds like you may need a second opinion. Check out the link below, it may be of some help. Sorry and good luck. May I just say that I'm very sorry to hear about your mother. I have heard of this before and I understand it will be particularly distressing for you all. Sometimes cancers can simply be missed during mammograms, but considering your mum has had a MRI, this would be unlikely. My stepfather had swollen lymph nodes in his neck; and the primary was found to be in his left tonsil..... sorry Ive got multiple myeloma, none of symptoms relate to it. But you may want to have a blood test done to look for elevated levels of protein, and calcium. You never know about this sneaky stuff ,this test will also givr results for bone marrow problems also. best of luck in the future.jack check out this research group..they are trying to find some cures......http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ visit the following url |
