We are both sick, what is wrong?

My BF, age 31, has lost 25lbs in 3 months, has night sweats, is really fatigued and has a swollen gland on his neck. The dr's said the gland is not a concern. Also tested him for TB - doesn't have it. I'm so worried. What could it be?

I'm 37 (in a week :) and have had intermittent bleeding and pain during sex for almost two months. As well as irregular spotting and stomach/pelvic pain at other times. I do not have cervical cancer, though I do have HPV (not the warts, but the virus in my cells).

I have a history of cancer (Hodgkin's Disease). The only medical issues in my BF's family are cancer-related too. His nephew had cancer as a child.

We are getting married soon and want to try to conceive right away. It has been a rough few months for us and we just want some answers. The doctors haven't been super helpful or informative.

I'll thank those of you with helpful answers for your kindness now. It's appreciated!

Thank you so much for the answers! To answer your questions now - I'm not on Depo. I do have hypothyroid though myself and I do not have the night sweats, though I had them before being diagnosed with cancer. I will definitely suggest my bf have his thyroid checked. Great idea! As for the doctors diagnosis in his case, they thought TB, but the reading was negative. He does have the fatigue and severe weight loss going on, so I am super concerned that it is serious in his case. As for me, the dr. thought maybe cervical cancer, but no - thankfully. He did mention endometriosis, which because we want children, I am obvioucly hoping against. I really appreciate all of you for answering. This is my life and it's serious to me so for total strangers to take the time to respond and with such informative and thoughtful answers is amazing. I'm sorry I can only pick one best answer. I appreciate you all!

Night sweats. big symptom. Has he had his thyroid (TSH) levels checked?
Here is a link. Please go there now- dd

from this site:
Infections 鈥?Classically, tuberculosis is the infection most commonly associated with night sweats. However, bacterial infections, such as endocarditis (inflammation of the heart valves), osteomyelitis (inflammation within the bones), and abscesses all may result in night sweats. Night sweats are also a symptom of AIDS virus (HIV) infection.
Cancers 鈥?Night sweats are an early symptom of some cancers. The most common type of cancer associated with night sweats is lymphoma. However, people who have an undiagnosed cancer frequently have other symptoms as well, such as unexplained weight loss and fevers.

Hi, checked in on ya. I think you need to press for more testing for both of you... esp. worrisome for both of you. Has your b/f had that node (if a lymph) biopsied?
If it is not anything on the links I sent you, I'm afraid I am stumped. Please press for more testing... and if one Dr. refuses or drags his feet, ask to see someone else! Sadly, you sometimes have to keep pushing. I went through a really bad year battling a viral thyroiditis, three months in and no answers yet,I had my own Internal Med Dr. tell me that I was depressed and possibly bi-polar and needed meds for that. After I got done laughing at him, I promptly fired him. My OBGYN figured it out in one visit and it was wonderful placing a copy of my REAL diagnosis on his desk! (Some Dr.'s are so egotistical that they figure that if THEY can't figure it out, YOU must have a mental /health issue, can you imagine??) So, moral of the story... keep pushing until they know what is really happening, and if something does not fit, don't be afraid to speak up or go see someone else!
Blessings- dd

What has the doctor's diagnosis been for each of you?

Heya....it sounds like your boyfriend has thyroid problems.....I would definitly ask to have blood tests done to have that checked out. I have hypothyroidism myself and have night sweats, am always tired and have an enlarged thyroid. I am on medication and it helps alot.
For your symptoms is it possible you have endomitriosis (sorry if the spelling is wrong). You could have a laparascopy done to have that checked out. I had one before and it is an outpatient day surgery and is painless.
I hope you both get better soon.....I know how much it sucks to not know what's going on inside your own body!
Cheers!
