take an allegra and a zantac and it will go away

You need to know what is causing them. Frequently, it's the soap you are using or the detergent you use on your clothes. Sometimes stress can cause them, but more usual it's something in your environment. You can use Benedryl. I was prescribed 50 mg. 4x a day. Be careful, it can make you really sleepy.

hives is an allergic reaction to something. you need to try to find what is causing it. i have had them so i know how bad you are itching. try changing soaps, laundry soap or anything that may be new in your home. im not sure waht is causing it but it is an alergic reaction to something. try an oatmeal bath that can be found at the drug store and soak in it! antihistimes also. good luck. i hope you can find out what your allergic to!!

Hives is the American work for what we call urticaria. It is generally associated with allergy, but is sometimes attributed to anxiety ( mainly in the USA). Other than antihistamines, there are few useful treatment options. You can try and get your GP to refer you, in an attempt to hunt for the allergy. Sometimes it is never discovered and often it is to something it is difficult to avoid.

Try to isolate it by changing your diet around week by week.

you should go see your doctor.
you could try taking a bath in roll oats, add to bath water.
it should help with the itchiness.

How long have you had hives?

The antihistamine is the only thing that will help.
It gets rid of the worse symptoms but not the cause.
Hives can take up to two weeks while on the antihistamine
to finally disappear. When whatever caused them has
finally filtered through your body, they will leave.
The cause usually is an allergy from a medication
you may be taking, a food you eat often, or it can even
be from your laundry detergent.
There are many foods which can cause hives such as chocolate and tomatoes.
The last time I had hives it was from a new super-antibiotic.
I've never been allergic to meds before. As you get older
some things that never bothered you before could do so
then. Body chemistry changes with age.
