Hives!!!!!?

A dr in the ER gave me Clindamycin related to pennicylin and im verrrrrrrry alergic to pennicylin(and i told him this many times and he told me i wouldnt get ives from it\) i stopped taking the clidamyacin when i broke out in hives 2 weeks ago and im still getting them. now i take benadryl and it helps for a while but not long befor im itching allover again. how long do you think the hives will last and is their anything else i can take?

A 10 day taper dose of prednisone (a prescription) will get rid of them totally. And, as far as I know; clindamycin is not related chemically to the penicillins; so there is another antibiotic you are allergic to.

Have you been drinking plenty of water??? You need to help your body flush it out of your system.... Drink lots and lots of water and it should help them to disappear. Good luck!

Soak in a luke warm bath with baking soda in it. That should sooth the itching.
What about Calamine lotion? couldn't you use that too? Or Lanacane. Lanacane really helps stop the itching.

I feel you sweetie! I had hives almost everyday for about four years. Then I would get them maybe twice or three times a week for another 2 1/2 years. My body would get use to the medication and it would stop working. I know exactly what you're going through.

If you run out of things to take, go to a health food store (a real specialty store not GNC) and find something with nettle leaves in it. Nettle leaves are a natural cure for hives. But if your body is like mine, it might get used to it.

My hives finally went away for good about two years ago without me ever finding out what was wrong with me. I hope you get rid of yours soon, I would not wish that type of pain on anyone! I used prayer and deep breathing exercises to CURE my hives. I stand by it 100%. Breath in for 10 secs and out 10 secs all throughout the day.

If you are religious then use prayer. Every time I would start to swell (especially my lips) I would touch the swelling and pray. It stopped swelling every time.

But if you're not religious then think positively. Your hives could be caused by stress.
