Hives............................

I had hives now for over a 3 weeks, its all over my body (mostly on legs, back, hands and hips). I don't know the cause. My doctor wrote Reactine which was useless and then he wrote me some cream which worked for 2 days but useless after. Can someone help me..

I'd say you're probably allergic to something: either food or something in your environment. The hives probably won't go away until you figure out what that is, so go back to your doctor to solve that. Either you've changed something recently (which makes it easy to solve the problem), or you've developed a new allergy, which means slowly eliminating things and/or getting the skin prick itchy test. The other option is you're very stressed and

Some things you can do to actually deal with the hives while you have them:
-obviously, don't scratch them (try to avoid even touching them unless you have to)
-avoid exercizing or anything that will get your heartrate up
-avoid stress
-avoid any heavily perfumed lotions or sprays or soaps - get something very gentle and fragrance free if this keeps up
-apply aloe creams or benadryl or calomine lotion (maybe one of these will work for you)
-apply cold packs/take cold showers or baths - do not take hot showers or baths, since heat really aggravates hives. If the cold makes the hives worse, stop, obviously, but this will probably only happen if cold is causing the hives.
-apply oatmeal to particularly bad areas
-sleep on your stomach, if you can
-wear clothing that fits loosely over the affected areas
-try not to focus on the itching

Hives are really uncomfortable... I hope yours get better soon.

I hope so. You must be eating or using something your allergic too. Didn't your Dr. do any allergy tests on you? Ask to have the test done. Have you started eating anything new in the last month? Have you used a new product, changed your laundry soap, softener, deoderant etc? Think real hard. Are you wearing a new kind of material you don't normally wear? It could be numerous things. Hope you get some help and those tests.

Over the counter Benadryl to help the itch inside out. Calomine lotion can also be applied on the hives- it works great. Hives take take up to several weeks to go away. Not fun.

Its an allergy, you must have eaten something that does not agree with your body. Just think back. Was it sea food.
