Hives Cure (HYDROXYZ HCL) ?

Can (HYDROXYZ HCL) be used to get rid of hives?
Question Details: I just recently start breaking out in hives I dont know what it is that im alergic to, a week ago before the outbreak i was getting bit by an unknown bug or insect of some sort, i couldnt see it i would just notice these red swollen boil like bites everywhere and when they would go down after putting acohol on them then they would leave a scar, & before the unknown the bites began i was dog watching for my cousin which they claim the dog doesn't have ticks or flees but i didnt start getting the bites untill the dog was here, a week after that i began to break out into hives on my arms and my face, my aun't said it could be the tylenol cold or pain medication im taking but, i don't think its that because i've been taking those forever. I went to the doctor and they prescribe me (hydroxyz hcl )and antibiotics but i didnt get the antibotics i just got the hydroxyz hcl will this get rid of the hives? and also what is a good cream to put on them to get rid of them?

hydroxyzine hcl is an antihistamine to reduce allergic reactions, but if he prescribed antibiotics, then you should get those also. Some of the larger stores like Meijers, Walmart, KMart, etc have special pricing on some antibiotics for like $5 or something? If it looks like a bug bite it could be MRSA (methacillin resistant staphylococcus aureus)...you should get a culture and sensitivity done on it if it doesn't clear up with the antibiotics and antihistamines that you were given. MRSA is a dangerous germ and it shouldn't be taken lightly...esp if you are a diabetic or have a weakened immune system.
