Urticaria (hives)? |
Whenever I go outside and my skin is exposed to sunlight for even five minutes, I usually get a case of hives over wherever the skin was exposed to the sun. Now before you say it could be a allergic reaction, although I've had this for several years I never had anything similar happen before. The hives usually dissapear about 30-40 minutes after I get out of the sunlight, however you can imagine how frustrating it gets especially if you are outside during gym class. I was wondering if anyone knows anything more about this. Any help would be appreciated. Oh right, I don't necessarly have to be outside for this to happen. I can just stand by the window hen there is sun and I'll still get a reaction. You have what is called solar urticaria (exposure to sunlight causes the hives). I had hives induced by almost everything except sunlight and eventually found out that I had celiac disease and when I quit eating gluten(found in wheat, rye and barley) my hives went away. You can get tested for celiac disease, dermititis herpetifomis which are both gluten intolerances or you can try not eating gluten for a month and see if the hives stop. Don't know if it will work for you or not. Good luck. It could be related to the heating of your skin, like a heat rash. |
