Can antihistamines trigger hives? |
In the last year I have had a problem with hives. I have gone to the allergist and he put me on several antihistamines. They took care of the hives when I was on them but if I missed a dose they would be really bad. I made the decision to stop taking them a few months ago. My hives got a lot better and I hardly had any breakouts. During the time when I wasn't regularly taking the antihistamines I experienced at one point an allergy not related to hives (sneezing and runny nose) and took an antihistamine to help with that. All of the sudden a couple of days later I had hives again. Could antihistamines actually trigger hives which is opposite of what they should do? its very possible. you need to find out if you are allergic to the antihistamines. consult your doctor. i am a homoeopathic doctor...to consult mail me at frosty_land@hotmail.com.....wo... does not know that allopathic medicines a causing serios diseases in the name of side effects.. Report It well you can be allergic to anything i guess, so it is possible, i took alfalfa pills to cure sinus trouble, and they worked but they gave me hives and i was a mess for a month, thankfully i can take the antihistamines. Antihistamines can trigger hives if you are allergic to them. Yes, that's a recorded side-effect yeah its kind of unusual to be allergic to antihistamines but it is possible It's possible. I would consult your doctor or allergist. Any medicine can cause hives if you are allergic to it. The best treatment for hives is Pepcid (20 mg twice a day). There are two types of histamine receptors--one that the traditional antihistamines block, the other is the stomach type that Tagamet, Pepcid or Zantac blocks. The type of histamine receptors Pepcid blocks are in the stomach and the SKIN--try it--it works. |
